Off-Hour Shooting

With appropriate certification, members are permitted to shoot on days when the club is not open (off hours).

Club members that would like to be approved to shoot off-hours will need to first successfully complete an orientation/training session. This training session is to ensure that the member has a thorough understanding of the safe & proper operation of the equipment and knows the rules.

You can schedule a time to participate in an orientation session through either a sign-up sheet located at the manager's counter in the clubhouse or by emailing the club at admin@peoriaskeetandtrap.com

The rules of the Off-Hour Shooting Policy (updated May 2022) can be downloaded here.

Club HiStory

Our club was founded in 1935 by a sporting goods store owner, Gus Portman, and fellow hunters Joe Cook, Harold Doubet, Glen Travis, and Bill Keenan, who leased land along the Illinois River from the Peoria Water Works. The club grew from one skeet field to four skeet fields and one trap field in the 40s.

The present Spring Bay site was purchased in the early 1960s and the first registered trap shoot was held at the new facility in 1964.

Peoria Skeet and Trap Club, Inc is a 501(c)(7) Tax Exempt Organization. In compliance with federal regulations, annual Federal Tax 990 Forms have been filed with the IRS and are available for public inspection. Contact the club treasurer for viewing information.
